چکیده

The rates of washout of m X e and I-iodoantipyrine from the myocardium into the coronary sinus blood were determined over a wide range of hematocrits after simultaneous injection of the isotopes into the left anterior descending coronary artery of dogs. The ratio of the monoexponential disappearance constants (kx/k,), which is a measure of the ratio of the dynamic blood-tissue partition coefficients (Xb,x/XbtI), increases linearly with hematocrit. This dynamic XbI ratio has almost the same relationship to hematocrit as the static Xbt ratio. By the use of appropriate hemotocrit-specific Xb, values, we found that simultaneous blood flows calculated from the two indicators with different disappearance constants showed excellent agreement. If this hematocrit-dependent alteration in indicator partitioning is neglected, blood flow measurements in the dog with Xe washout may introduce an error of approximately 1.15% per unit hematocrit deviation from the normal value (taken as 45%), whereas blood flow measurements with ' "I-iodoantipyrine washout had negligible errors.

Partition of xenon and iodoantipyrine among erythrocytes, plasma, and myocardium.

A new method was developed for determining directly the distribution of 133Xe between red cells and plasma in vitro without an air-fluid interface; the partitioning of 133Xe and 133-i-iodantipyrine between blood and myocardium was investigated in the dog in situ. The red cell-plasma partition coefficient for 133Xe (lambdacpX, unit: ml/ml) at 37 degrees C was 2.27 +/- 0.07 (mean +/- SD) for huma...

Xenon handling in the liver: red cell capacity effect.

Xenon, despite its lack of chemical reactivity, associates preferentially with red cells in blood. To characterize the effect of this and the nature of xenon-tissue interaction in the liver, multiple indicator dilution studies were performed in the anesthetized normal dog through portal vein injection and hepatic vein collection of anaerobic blood samples. Two experimental runs were carried out...

Circulatory transport of iodoantipyrine and water in the isolated dog heart.

The exchanges of I-labeled 4-iodoantipyrine (I-Ap), C-labeled antipyrine (C-Ap), and tritiated water (THO) were studied in isolated blood-perfused, beating, nonworking dog hearts. From a first set of experiments, analysis of externally monitored myocardial clearance curves of IAp after its injection into coronary artery blood showed its washout to be flow limited at flows ranging from 0.8 to 3....
